While the core mechanics are really fun and solid the game falls short for me because of it's ranking and monetisation mechanics. Seasons are pretty short and the rank is reset afterwards, so if you end up being decent at the game, but don't play it often you always play again ppl in bronze or iron and win 90% of all matches without much effort. The second issue I have feeds into this, you can upgrade your cards by getting more of them and then fusing your cards to make them stronger. This leads to you winning or loosing games just based on how long you play. I've played games against decks that were similar to mine and the winner was decided based on whose units hat more strength instead of anything that resembles skill. I still recommend you try it if you wanna try a ccg chess game, since it's free to play you can always drop it if you encounter the same issues I did or continue if they don't end up bothering you.

Great game overall! The gameplay, music and art style are superb. P2W only plays a minor role, and the community is fantastic. My main critique is the progression system. When i reached the top rank, new cards were released. These were required to stay on top, meaning you have to grind hard for just a few cards. The second time this happened it made me quit. Years later i'm back, still loving the game, albeit with the same issues making me reconsider my return. Big Shadowfen thanks! Jorav

I've been playing this game for over 2 years now and it's still a favourite of mine. Strategic deckbuilding and tactical gameplay with great artwork and unique factions. You need to be in it for the long haul, because progression is still a bit slow, but the journey is very enjoyable regardless. The game has recently changed hands and the new developers are doing a really good job trying to fix the slow player progression, which is deserving of a 5 star rating. Get in folks and ride the stormbound hype train!
