The neolexon therapy system for the treatment of aphasia and speech apraxia supports speech therapists in their daily work. With neolexon, individualized exercise materials can be compiled for patients and speech therapy exercises can be performed flexibly on a tablet or in a PC browser. The app was developed by a team of speech therapists and computer scientists at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and is registered as a medical device.
With the neolexon app, therapists can quickly compile individual exercise sets for their patients. Available:
- 8,400 words (nouns, verbs, adjectives, numerals, and NEW: phrases)
- 1,200 sentences
- 35 texts
The exercises can be selected based on the patient's personal interests, semantic fields (e.g., clothing, Christmas, etc.), and linguistic characteristics (e.g., only two-syllable words beginning with /a/).
The app offers the opportunity to practice the selected language units together with the patient in flexibly adjustable exercises during the therapy session. The areas of auditory language comprehension, reading comprehension, and oral and written language production are trained. The "Picture Cards" function is also available, allowing therapists to conduct free exercises with the exercise set.
The difficulty of the individual exercises can be finely adjusted. For example, the number of distractor pictures can be specified and whether they are semantically similar to the target word can be determined. In the "Writing" exercise type, you can choose between fill-in-the-blanks, anagrams, and free writing using the entire keyboard. Further settings options can be found in the app.
Patients' responses are automatically recorded and available as graphics, saving valuable time in preparation and documentation. They do not provide information for diagnostic or therapeutic decisions.
