About this game

Gris is a hopeful young girl lost in her own world, dealing with a painful experience in her life. Her journey through sorrow is manifested in her dress, which grants new abilities to better navigate her faded reality. As the story unfolds, Gris will grow emotionally and see her world in a different way, revealing new paths to explore using her new abilities.

GRIS is a serene and evocative experience, free of danger, frustration or death. Players will explore a meticulously designed world brought to life with delicate art, detailed animation, and an elegant original score. Through the game light puzzles, platforming sequences, and optional skill-based challenges will reveal themselves as more of Gris’s world becomes accessible.

GRIS is an experience with almost no text, only simple control reminders illustrated through universal icons. The game can be enjoyed by anyone regardless of their spoken language.

The visuals, music and animations are stunning. I also really like the symbolism of the non-verbal story, which became clear during the end of the game. But there are downsides too: I played it on a 6,8" phone, and could hardly see what I had to interact with in some screens. It happened a couple of times, that I had to wander around for multiple minutes before understanding what to do (badly telegraphed actions). Also, I would guess that you spend 80% of this game just walking around.

I've been wanting to try this game and was excited to see it on Play Pass. Wonderful game, but when I tried it on my phone, the touch screen controls were frustrating. It was hard to make precise jumps, and the positioning was awkward. I connected my Xbox controller to my tablet. It made the gameplay so much easier, and my thumbs weren't covering up a portion of the beautiful landscape. I would strongly recommend either getting this game for pc or having a controller handy.

This is such an amazing game, the visuals, the score, I really want to play it but alas, the developers don't want me to. They have created a level where red butterflies go round a square. That obstacle cannot be crossed. I have seen several Youtube gameplays where they do it but it doesn't work. Those butterflies just don't want to pick my character. Very sad that I couldn't play such a beautiful game because the developers don't want everyone to experience it. Sad.
