Your voice could help shape the future of mental health care.
This research app, developed by Priory in collaboration with Peak Profiling, is part of a pioneering study exploring how voice biomarkers; patterns in how we speak that could be used to detect depression and other mental health concerns.
Why take part?
Right now, mental health conditions like depression are often hard to detect early, leading to delays in treatment. We believe your voice holds clues that could help change this. By analysing short voice recordings, our study aims to train a machine learning algorithm to identify early signs of depression and suicidality—potentially offering a faster, more objective way to screen for mental health conditions in the future.
What’s involved?
Current Priory patients can download the app and register to submit short voice recordings each week (up to 5 recordings total).
Tasks include:
• Counting from 1 to 10
• Describing an image
• Talking about your week
• Complete brief wellbeing questionnaires (e.g. PHQ-9 and GAD-7)
• Participation is quick (2–3 minutes per week) and completely voluntary.
Your data, protected.
• Your identity is protected through pseudonymisation.
• Voice recordings and data are securely encrypted and stored.
• You can withdraw at any time; no pressure, no obligation.
Why it matters:
By participating, you’re helping to develop a new generation of non-invasive mental health tools that could support those in need. Your contribution could support earlier diagnosis, better care, and improved outcomes for those living with depression.
Join today. Your voice matters more than you think.
